5-Minute Quick Setup
Add your GST details, configure invoice numbering and email, and generate your first test invoice in about five minutes.
Overview
This is the fastest path from a fresh install to your first GST-compliant invoice. It takes about five minutes. Each step links to a deeper guide if you want more detail.
Before you start
- GST Pro installed.
- Your GSTIN and registered business name (optional).
- Your store/supplier address, including the state your business operates from.
Steps
Set HSN codes & GST rates on your products
Go to Products and set an HSN code and GST rate on each product. Use bulk edit to do many at once, or sync HS codes you already keep in Shopify. Products without their own rate fall back to your default GST rate.
Use the Missing HSN & GST filter to find products that still need a rate before you start invoicing.

Add your GSTIN and business name
Go to Settings → General and enter your GSTIN and business name as registered. These appear in the supplier block at the top of every invoice.
Leaving the GSTIN blank puts the app in Bill of Supply mode (no tax shown). Add your GSTIN to generate full tax invoices.

Set your supplier address
Go to Settings → Addresses and confirm your store/supplier address. The state on this address decides the tax split — CGST + SGST for in-state customers, IGST for out-of-state. By default the Override supplier address from Shopify switch is on, so GST Pro uses the address you enter here. Turn it off to instead use the address of the Shopify location that fulfils each order.

Generate a test invoice
Open any existing order in your Shopify admin, launch GST Pro from the order's More actions (or the app's order list), and generate the invoice. Check the GSTIN, tax split (CGST/SGST vs IGST), and totals.
Go live
Once the test invoice looks right, you're ready. Set up Automation to send invoices to customers automatically on order or fulfillment — by email, over WhatsApp, or both.
→ Verify everything with the First invoice checklist.
Result
You have your GST details saved, invoice numbering and email configured, and a verified test invoice. Most stores are fully set up at this point.
